Published in Finnish as Gazan naiset

The book begins through the innocent eyes of the author at the age of six, as she watches an Israeli soldier stop her family’s car at a military checkpoint in the Gaza Strip. From that moment, Women of Gaza unfolds into a literary journey across four generations of Palestinian women, spanning from the Nakba in 1948 to 2026.Blending memoir, oral history and literary nonfiction, the book traces how war, occupation, political division and patriarchal and religious authority move through bodies, homes and memories, while women continue to create life within extraordinary circumstances.

Randa Al-Dawoudi’s work has always begun with people, their memories, contradictions, questions and the stories they carry.Moving between literature, journalism, oral history, public dialogue and multidisciplinary cultural projects, she explores memory, identity, belonging, conflict and the forces that shape individuals and societies.At the centre of her work is a lasting curiosity about what makes us human, and what becomes visible when people are given the space to tell their own stories.
