Originally written in Arabic translated by: Sampsa Peltonen, Women of Gaza begins with Randa Al-Dawoudi’s own family story and expands across four generations of Palestinian women, from the Nakba of 1948 to the war of 2023–2025 and its aftermath.Moving between personal memory, family history and the experiences of other women in Gaza, the book explores how occupation, war, displacement and social and religious authority shape women’s bodies, choices, relationships and everyday lives.Yet this is not a book about war alone. It is about women who hope, love, raise families, laugh, remember and do everything they can to protect life under extraordinary circumstances. BEYOND THE BOOKS Meet Randa Al-Dawoudi

Randa Al-Dawoudi’s work begins with people, their memories, contradictions, questions and the stories they carry.Moving between literature, journalism, oral history, public dialogue and multidisciplinary cultural projects, she explores memory, identity, belonging, conflict and the forces that shape individuals and societies.Across these forms, she is interested in what happens when private lives meet public history, and in how stories can preserve human complexity where politics, media and collective memory often simplify it.
