Randa Al-Dawoudi is a Palestinian author, journalist, public speaker and cultural producer from Gaza, based in Helsinki. Her work moves across literature, journalism, oral history and multidisciplinary cultural projects, exploring memory, identity, power and everyday human experience. Across these forms, she is interested in how private lives meet public history, and in preserving the complexity of people whose stories are often reduced by politics, media or conflict.
Women of Gaza is a work of literary nonfiction spanning four generations of Palestinian women from the Nakba of 1948 to 2025. Beginning with the author’s own childhood in Gaza, the book blends memoir and oral history to explore how occupation, recurring wars, political division, and patriarchal and religious authority enter the body, the home, relationships and memory. At the same time, the book follows the ordinary acts through which women continue to create life, love, family, humour and meaning under extraordinary circumstances.
